As proprietor of Bacchus Wine Shop, I have been proud and excited about all of the special events we have had since our grand opening. However, a personal highlight of the year for me is having one of my teenage idols, Devo co-founder turned winemaker Jerry Casale, pouring his wines in the shop.
Jerry equates the new wave rock scene of the late 1970s with the new wave food and wine scene that was occurring at the same time in California. After nearly four decades of experimenting with food and wine pairings and touring wine-producing regions of the world, Jerry opened his own winery, 50 By 50, several years ago. His first vintages of Pinot Noir and Rose of Pinot Noir are from the Sonoma Coast, and his 2012 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast scored 94 points in the Wine Enthusiast (2/1/15) and was the Editor’s Choice!
Jerry will be will be pouring his wines and signing bottles and memorabilia. I know I am bringing out my Freedom of Choice album (famed for “Whip It”) for an autograph!
